Ivan Viktorovich Vagner was born on July 10, 1985, in Severoonezhsk, Russia. He graduated from the Baltic State Technical University in 2008 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Before his selection as a cosmonaut in October 2010, Vagner worked as an engineer at RSC Energia, assisting in flight management for the International Space Station (ISS) program. He completed basic spaceflight training in 2012. Vagner's first spaceflight was as a flight engineer on Soyuz MS-16, launching on April 9, 2020, and serving as a member of Expeditions 62 and 63 aboard the ISS. As of September 2024, he is serving as a flight engineer on the ISS as part of Expedition 72.
