Bio

Walter Villadei is a colonel in the Italian Air Force and currently its representative in the U.S. for commercial spaceflight and access to space. In addition, he has served as member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Space Agency and as the Italian delegate at the European Commission for the Space Surveillance and Tracking Program. From 2012 to 2019, Walter received full cosmonaut training in Russia as a Soyuz flight engineer, including advanced Orlan, ISS Russian segment, and centrifuge training. Walter Villadei (born April 29, 1974) is an Italian military officer. He graduated from the Academy of the Italian Air Force in Pozzuoli and holds a master's degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Naples Federico II and a specialization in astronautical engineering from the University of Rome. Although he has never flown in space, he was trained as a cosmonaut in Russia. It is planned for him to fly into space in late 2023 as part of an Axiom Space mission.
