Zafar

Zafar are Iranian microsatellites designed to perform Earth Observation and mapping operations.

Each Zafar can resolve features on Earth down to 22.5 meters.

They will operate from a 530 km orbit. Each Zafar has a launch mass of 113 kg and is powered by solar cells and batteries.

Simorgh

Simorgh is an Iranian three stage to orbit liquid fueled rocket.

While much of the rocket is classified, we know the rocket is fully expendable and can take a maximum of 350 kg (770 lb) to a 500 km circular orbit.

It has two configurations, with the "A" variant being smaller in height than the "B" variant.

The Simorgh B stands 27 m (89 ft) tall and has a launch mass of 87 tons (192,000 lb).

It has a single launch site, and has suffered 2 failures out of 3 launches to date.

Semnan Space Center

The Semnan Space Center is the primary Iranian orbital launch site.

It gets its name from the town of Semnan located 50 km southeast of the launch center.

The launch site is shrouded in secrecy. However, a few facts are known:

  1. The first launch from the site occurred on November 2nd, 2006
  2. 19 launches have taken place from the center
  3. There are two launch pads, the Circular Launch Platform (the oldest pad) and the Main Launch Platform
  4. Launches only take place in a southerly direction, resulting in a restricted orbital inclination range of just 55°-66°.

Space is for everyone. Here’s a link to share the launch with your friends.
