Overview
Soyuz 8 was the third of a three-flight mission with Soyuz 6 and Soyuz 7. The main goal of Soyuz 8 was to dock to Soyuz 7 and transfer crew. The docking systems on all three Soyuz failed, preventing the main point of the three-flight joint mission. This was the final time Soviet lunar landing technology flew in space, and the final failure that ended the Soviet lunar landing program.
