Overview
This flight took part of the EO-10 crew to Space Station Mir. This mission has the unique distinction of being one of two flights in which a crew member launched as one nationality and returned to Earth as another; the Soviet Union ceased to exist while the EO-10 crew was on Mir. Volkov launched on this mission as a Soviet citizen and landed with it as a Russian citizen. This was the final human launch conducted by the Soviet Union. The mission was also the last human launch to Mir while it was a Soviet space station.
