Yusaku Maezawa is a Japanese billionaire entrepreneur and art collector. He founded mail-order album business Start Today in 1998 and launched the online fashion retail website Zozotown in 2004, now Japan's largest.

Most recently, Maezawa introduced a custom-fit apparel brand ZOZO an at-home measurement system, the ZOZOSUIT, in 2018.

On September 17th, 2018, it was announced that Maezawa will be the first commercial passenger to do a flyby around the Moon. He will fly onboard a SpaceX Starship, which has been in development since 2017. The flight is slated to take place no earlier than 2023 with a duration of nearly six days.

As part of this mission, Yusaku has been running a competition that will select 8 people to join him aboard the Starship on the Dear Moon mission.

To date, over 1 million people have applied for a chance to fly to the Moon and back and as of September 1st, 2021, the Dear Moon project has contacted its selected candidates for a medical check-up. No further updates have been provided.
